❤ For the love of animals, GUEULE D'AMOUR does not offer any leather items.
To continue buying leather is to continue closing our eyes to animal cruelty.
Thank you so much for them.

While wearing fur shocks many people, leather is often considered a natural material, associated with quality and durability. However, the leather industry, like the fur industry, causes immense animal suffering. It is also harmful to the environment and human health. Today we list 5 reasons not to buy leather.
Animals are the first affected by the leather industry. It is often thought that leather is a byproduct of the meat industry, "recycling" skins. In reality, it is the most important “co-product”. For some animals, like ostriches, leather is more lucrative than meat.

Buying leather supports intensive farming in countries where animal protection laws are non-existent. Slaughter practices are particularly violent, causing terrible suffering.
Every year, 1 billion animals are killed for their skin. In China, the use of dog or cat leather is common, and these products are often sold without precise labeling, leaving consumers in ignorance.
Intensive farming is responsible for 18% of greenhouse gas emissions. According to Greenpeace, cattle ranching is responsible for 80% of Amazon rainforest destruction.

The tanning process is extremely polluting. Toxic waste is dumped into rivers, poisoning groundwater. In Dhaka (Bangladesh), the Buriganga River is biologically dead due to tannery waste, making plant and fish life impossible.
Leather tanning requires toxic chemicals like chromium. Pure Earth estimates that 16 million people are exposed to chromium worldwide, risking cancer and severe respiratory diseases.

In Hazaribagh, considered one of the most contaminated places on earth, workers live amidst mercury and arsenic. Their life expectancy does not exceed 50 years.
Chromium used in tanning can turn into hexavalent chromium, an allergen. According to studies, 30% of leather shoes sold in France contain it, causing eczema and itching.
Today, synthetic or plant-based alternatives exist, offering superior quality and resistance without the chemical risks to your health.
“When you think that it would be enough for people to stop buying them for them to no longer sell” — Coluche
Choosing leather-free products means saying no to an industry of suffering. It’s choosing kindness for animals and the planet.
Warmly, Laetitia.
